In this case, I do believe Gartner as I can see this happening. Android has taken over the world by storm and the best strategy for them was to keep their options open in terms of making partnerships with phone manufacturers. Apple, however, will end up on the losing end due to the stubbornness of Mr. Jobs for keeping everything behind closed doors (that is only he knows what's next).
So, by the looks of it, if you are an owner of an Android based phone, you will be able to boast amongst your friends with all the inferior phone OS.
