Nokia Buys Symbian

In a move which was somewhat expected, Nokia buys out controlling shares of Symbian, an open source platform for mobiles. Nokia has been pushing the Symbian OS for the last almost a decade or so with its S60 and S80 smartphones. Now almost 70% of Nokia's phones are based on Symbian OS. Nokia also announced that it will make Symbian OS open source, thus giving an opportunity to the developers to create newer versions of Symbian keeping in view the model and type of phone.

I just wonder that why is Pakistan so behind in these things. I would love to see a Pakistani firm buying out major shares in some OS or software development company and this making is completely Pakistani. I guess our nation is preoccupied with all the Mushy, Zardari, Shariff and Judges fiasco that they really don't care. Anyway, I just thought that I should share this news.
